Cliff Richard's TV Show Appearances

This page attempts to list all of Cliff Richard's TV show appearances, and where known, the songs performed at that appearance. Of course, this list is woefully incomplete as this information is hard to come by on my side of the pond (in America), so I mostly rely on a few books I own and fans like you to help fill in the missing information. If you know of missing information, please let me know at cliffrichardsongs@gmail.com. I need your help!

Song titles marked in RED are songs sung by Cliff. All others are either not by Cliff or are spoken parts only.

This is a living document and will be continually updated. Check back periodically for updates. The latest update was done December, 2024 . Robert Porter

November 1, 1959 Val Parnell's Sunday Night At The London Palladium S05E07 60 minutes ATV ITV UK Cliff was presented with a Gold Disc for a million sales of Living Doll on this program. Other guests on this particular program included The Beverley Sistes and Des O'Connor. The show was compreted by Bruce Forsyth.
"One [TV] show [The Shadows] remember because of an unrehearsed moment. Just before they were due to go on stage to play, someone whispered to them, but not to Cliff, that there would be a presentation afterwards. Cliff didn't know anything about it. They finished the act and Cliff took his bow and than waited for the curtains to close as should have happened. The Shads waited too as they had been told, so they weren't worried. But Cliff was terrified. This was live television. He felt sure something had gone wrong and was frantically figuring out how he could get off stage. Then Bruce Forsyth strolled on stage with a huge grin and Cliff looked at him with relief, guessing Bruce would help solve the situation. But he was stunned when Bruce presented Cliff with a gold disc for Living Doll. He had no idea that sales had reached a million."

Cliff Richard Living Doll On the credit side there was some television exposure here and there, principally in New York when Cliff guested on the Pat Boone Show!@#. The clean-cut, all-American Boone talked allegedly like an Engishman in a banal exchange of scripted words. Example: Boone tells the viewers that Cliff was 'born in India but left when he was a year old. How was that?' Cliff: 'Frankly, Pat, when you have shot one elephant you have shot them all!' There was some compensation on that show: Cliff did sing Living Doll, which no doubt helped to lift American sales of the record.
